BaronBaronne in Style Bubble

Baron Baronne (not a Parisian nightclub...)

In all two years of Style Bubble blogging days, I don't think I've talked about many truly French-bred fashion talent. Despite Paris being the international epicentre of fashion, the number of up and coming fashion labels that actually originate from France (like, technically BORN in the land!), as opposed to designers from all around the world using Paris as a base', are fewer in comparison to say the United Kingdom or Scandinavia. With a name like Baron Baronne, you couldn't really mistake this label for anything but being Parisian (the first thing that came to mind was of course the famous nightclub Le Baron... and some sort of wordplay on its sister club Paris Paris). Baron Baronne is made up of Chambre Syndicale in Paris grads Sibylle Genin and Lambert Perera Cortes who have also been working for people like John Galliano and Anne Valerie Hash. They're also young ones', aged 21 and 23, so to venture out with their own label at such an early stage is quite impressive.

Ease of wear is what a lot of French 'household' brands like A.P.C., Petit Bateau or Comptoir de Cotonniers to ver well. Or perhaps they go down a prettier route, par example - Vanessa Bruno, Antik Batik and Cacharel. 'Quirk' and something slightly 'odd' is not something that I see often in French labels so with this AW08-9 collection made of pretty tuxes, straight down and up lines whilst still being restrained, it seems Baron Baronne can combine the strange and easy-to-wear easily.

The colours are so sparse but strong. The combination of pale blue and bordeaux is especially striking especially evident in the backs (can't stop harping on about the importance of backs...).
